I have a drawer.

Sometimes it’s the little things that bring us joy. Mate #3 texted me today to say she’s been cleaning and organizing her room, and I now have a drawer I can keep stuff in if I want. It’s a small thing, but it’s also a very loving thing

And, of course, she set aside a drawer for her #2, too. I had to laugh when she said “he has the same size drawer as you”. Size doesn’t matter.  😀

One Response to “I have a drawer.”

  1. There’s something very intimate about being given a space inside someone else’s space, to call one’s own. It says that person has made room for you in their life. It says you are welcome there. It says you are there often enough to make the inconvenience of storing your stuff a fair trade off for the convenience of having your stuff around rather than transporting it back and forth.

It shows that the person cares enough about your convenience to inconvenience themselves that much, and that they want you around often, and that you are a consideration in their daily life.

It doesn’t have to be a Big Deal, it doesn’t have to indicate a Serious Step, like giving someone your key is often thought to mean in monogamous dating. But it’s a sweet and touching gesture.
